Guy and Marc Benin produce this high quality and original table wine, which forged the excellent reputation of the Domaine de Ravanès. Their ambitious and passionate work was rewarded on September 29,2004 during a wine tasting by a popular English importer in London: the Petrus myth, the excellent expression of the Merlot, can be beaten hands down by Les Gravières du Taurou 1999, the grand Cuvee of the Domaine.
This Cuvee Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon de Ravanès represents perfectly the grape varieties with a much stronger Mediterranean character than the Bordeaux wines.
The colour is ruby with purple reflections.
The nose reveals scents of plum and candied red fruits (morello cherry, cherry and currant), mixed with more subtle scents of Mirabelle and melon.
In the mouth the taste is intense and delicious, first clear and nervous, then developing into an explosion of ripe fruits and liquorice flavours, enriched by dense and fine tannins. The finale is fresh and long-lasting.
