Château Tessendey estate dates back to 1840 and was purchased by Mister d'Arfeuille in 1972. In order to bring the estate up to its current high standards, a fall-seale renovation programme for the cellars and vineyard was required. The whole of the vineyard was replanted. The estate covers 7 hectares and is located in Saillans on the rolling slopes of Fronsac vineyards. The grape varieties are 83% of Merlot and 17% of Cabernet Franc at a density of plantation of 4,800 plants per hectare. The average age of the vines is 15 years. The harvest is picked by hand, and the vinification lasts 20 and 25 days, depending of the year. The wine then goes into vasts and barrages to age for a period of 18 months. The bottling then takes place at the Château. On average, the annual production is 36,000 bottles.
