Description of this Single Malt
Macallan's stated aim is to create a malt whisky against which all others are judged. Located on the banks of the River Spey in Scotland, Macallan has been producing malts since 1824 using only the low-yielding Golden Promise barley. Whisky is distilled in the smallest stills in Speyside and aged in custom-made Spanish Oloroso Sherry Casks. This 25-year-old offering has a lightly wooded and vanilla nose with roasted, caramel aromas. Rich and full, the whisky has notes of rancio, reminiscent of vintage cognac, against a background of warm, spicy, peaty flavours with elegant dried fruits. With its lingering oaky smoke aroma, this classic spirit enjoys a cult following in some of the best bars in the world.
