The Noval estate, founded in 1715, is one of the most famous quintas in the entire Douro Valley, the birthplace of Port. Noval was the first house to market wines produced from a single estate (or quinta). Their top quality port is produced from old-growth vines on the right banks of the river. Their vineyards cultivate all the standard grape varieties used in port - Touriga Nacional for Vintage Port and Tinta Roriz or Tempranillo for Tawny Ports. The 20-year-old port is particularly magnificent, intense and full bodied with an authentic rustic-like quality.
