Three great vintages following one after the other, 2008, 2009, 2010.
"In Bordeaux, the temptation was high to compare with the trilogy, 1988, 1989 and 1990, but one did not dare to."
(The Point - May 2011)
"Another very great, red and white wine vintage!"
"Professor Denis Dubourdieu, advisors of many vineyards, does not hesitate to qualify the vintage 2010 compared to the previous vintage, the very coveted 2009."
(Le Figaro - May 2011)
R. PARKER: "This news may be tragic or mythical, but I have tasted enough wines from 2005, 2009 and 2010 to realize that these three vintages can be the most outstanding I've tasted in my career."
"You could almost say that it is difficult to talk about another outstanding vintage in Bordeaux. The fact is that the 2010 follows the great 2009 vintage and is something remarkable. The great Bordeaux wine lovers will of course be attacked by dizzying prices that certainly will exceed the price of 2009. The world keeps changing and there is no denying that 2010 has produced an exceptional vintage that ranks with the 2009 vintage as an exceptional vintage .
Make your choice, this news may be tragic or mythical, but I tasted enough wines from 2005, 2009 and 2010 to realize that these three vintages can be the most outstanding I've tasted in my entire life. [... ]
2010 although they are powerful and highly extracted, they remain fresh, pure and have a long life.
[...] Most of the crops of 2010 and 2008 has been delayed and some in the last weeks of October, as more and more producers are looking for a full phenolic ripeness. " (Erobertparker.com - April 2011)
Sun and shade on the 2010 vintage in Bordeaux
"Brilliant and elegant, the new Bordeaux vintage, presented this week, is less homogeneous than it is said. The late Cabernets of Médoc and the Merlot on the right bank of limestone stand out.
At Bordeaux , two great vintages follow one another without resemblance. The 2009 vintage produced great, fleshy and seducing wines. The 2010 vintage promises wines that are "long" in the mouth and produced with a well-balanced alcohol and acidity. "They will also have of good aging capacity, forecasts Emmanuel Saint-Salvy, technical director of Chateau-Bellefont Belcier, one of the great successful wines of Saint-Emilion this year. Here is the presentation after one week of en primeur wines tasting, organized throughout the Bordeaux region for some 5,000 professionals, journalists and buyers from around the world. At this stage, caution is needed to judge since they are only at the beginning of a long maturing, eighteen to twenty-four months until bottling."
(Les Echos - April 2011)
During the tasting week in Bordeaux, wine tasters make the wine world trembling
"During the week of en primeur wine in Bordeaux ,we can talk about "parker" mood, the stress of wine makers is very high, while expecting a note by the famous American critic Robert Parker, but also by a handful of other tasters, whose verdict will be very important for the sales.
In chateau and cellars of Bordeaux, critics and journalists are rushing this week to taste the latest vintage. Pampered by the owners, they scribble their first comments while ringing their glasses and making mouth noises.
Sitting or standing tastings, blind or not, regardless of the way, their influence will be huge in the price setting.

Vintage 2010: a "great" Bordeaux
"According to many professionals the 2010 vintage in Bordeaux will be "racy","fantastic","another great red and white wine". It follows the 2009 that has been exceptional thanks to very good weather conditions all year long. After 2009, it was hard to imagine another great vintage at Bordeaux ", wondered Denis Dubourdieu, director of the Institute of Vine and Wine in Bordeaux. At this stage of winemaking, the "malolactic fermentation that has been finished and draft assemblies almost decided, we can certainly say that yes, 2010 will be a great even very great, red and white wine," he said in a press report.
"This is a racy vintage , with a fantastic elegance," added Sylvie Cazes, president of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux . This is a vintage with a beautiful structure that will keep a lot of freshness "with regularly temperatures" throughout the summer until the end of the harvest "and cool nights," which produces great vintages in Bordeaux, "she has been welcomed at a press conference for the campaign of en primeur wines, which opens in early April and has already attracted a strong "infatuation". Bernard Magrez also qualifies it "among the greatest".
[...] "After 2009, 2010 should have been simply a good vintage (...) but nature has decided otherwise", he adds."

En primeur wines 2010: This vintage is driving the world wild
"The dreaded Robert Parker has done his round in some cellars, but the round of the en primeur 2010 actually starts tomorrow. All week long, traders, customers and journalists will taste the result of a first assembly, before two years of raising at the domaine. A sample that will allow winemakers to make adjustments and give especially the tone of the 2010 vintage .
[...] "It's a very technical vintage that required a lot of work," justifies Pierre Lurton, manager of Chateau Yquem[...]. It is also a wine quite different from the previous one. "This is the luxury of Bordeaux: to produce a different wine each year," said Alexander Van Beek, owner of the domain Giscours and du Tertre. The year 2010 will be marked by a flowering of merlot disrupted by bad weather. The feet will have a poor yield. Whereas, the other major Bordeaux grape, cabernet sauvignon, will be very great.
(Lejdd.fr - April 2011)
"If Campaign 2010 is eagerly awaited, it is also because this vintage is a very great one. China, America, England, France ... should be at the appointment for some 300 castles of the elite really concerned with buying en primeur .
The 2010, currently ageing will not be delivered until late 2012. In next May, when the prices are known, wine lovers can book their bottles by paying in advance. "
(Southwest - March 2011)
"A few weeks after exceptional harvests, we can give an accurate estimation of the 2010 vintage. The reason is simple and miraculous [...] A second vintage of the century??
Grands Crus of Bordeaux: a very racy vintage
"The vintage 2010 looks like a racy vintage , with a great elegance, a beautiful structure, a good ripeness and fruits," says Sylvie Cazes, president of the Union of Great Crus de Bordeaux , three weeks before the en primeur wines campaign ."Bookings of professionals around the world show a passion as strong as for the 2009 vintage"she says. "
(The despatch - March 2011)
