Description of this Chablis 1er cru
The Côte de Léchet extends on 37ha and is situated on the Côte de Léchet and the Château hamlets with a South-East exposure. A part of it used to be owned by the Pontigny abbey monks, and was known as the " Grande Costes de Milly " in 1610.
The geological components of the hillside is quite uniform with a large slope and quite pebbly. The early ripeness of the grapes is here thanks to a great sun exposure. The wines are rather round, seductive, well-balanced, harmonious with a great structure, perfect for a long-ageing.
Wines are mostly floral with white flower aromas, elegant and feminine. Harvest is often presenting dessicated grapes giving powerful wines with a good minerality and fruitiness.
Wines are quite minty, well-balanced with an intense aromatic structure. These full-bodied wines are very expressive on the nose, very mineral, not as full and long-lasting as the Beauroy but more lively and less developped, with a very delicate and expressive nose.
