The second growth Château Ducru-Beaucaillou sits between the village of Beychevelle and the Gironde estuary, where the Borie family have maintained the bar of quality for sixty years. Here the heart of the Médoc beats in the deep gravel which gives perfect expression to Cabernet Sauvignon. The gravely terroir that characterizes Beaucaillou's 50-hectares vineyard are the beautiful stones ("beau caillou" in French) which gave its name to the property. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou's wine is deeply coloured, with a mouth-watering fruitiness, and a supple and tannic quality on the palate.
