Chinon classics

The Chinon region in the Loire valley with its semi-oceanic climate, sunny, mild days and wonderful terroir, is a winemaker's dream. Couly-Dutheil is a family estate founded in the early 20th century by René Couly and Madeleine Dutheil and The Clos de l’Echo vineyard opposite the castle is owned by descendents of the founders. Here in the limestone cellars, grapes from 75 hectares of vines, spread over three different terroirs, are turned into wine. The gravel strewn terraces of Vienne produce fruity, easy-drinking wines, while the steep clay-limestone hillsides give birth to round, elegant cuvées. A combination of care, attention and expertise has produced some real Chinon classics.
