Without a doubt and without comparison, Sauternes is the world's greatest sweet white wine. Great by its reputation and that of its prestigious growths, by its quality, the fruit of rigour and passion. A microscopic fungus, bearing the suave name of Botrytis cinerea, transforms the healthy berries of Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, withering and concentrating them to reveal complex and delicate aromas. Luxurious and feminine, mysterious and divine, impossible to resist, such a wine is almost a sin.
